Renting a car during holidays has become quite popular in recent years. It offers the privilege of exploring the hidden gems of any destination to visitors at their own pace. Understanding its benefits, the trend of renting a car in Paxos has also gained huge popularity among visitors coming to this smallest and most beautiful island in Greece.

But renting a car also comes with some unexpected expenses and problems, which is no exception when acquiring some services. However, there are some ways that can protect people from happening to them. Some of these ways are mentioned below:

  1. Understanding the Rental Agreement: It is one of the most important secrets to consider. A rental agreement is a legal document signed between the car rental agency and the person renting a car. It contains information like the duration of the period for which the car is rented, its total rent based on daily rent, fuel policy, driving restrictions daily, additional charges, returning policy, and more. Before signing the contract, read it thoroughly and check for any hidden charges mentioned in small alphabets at the footer of the document. Make all doubts clear before signing the agreement to avoid any confusion.
  2. Inspect the Exterior and Interior of the Car: Before taking charge of the car, inspect it properly from both outside and inside. If possible also click the pictures and share them even with the car renting agency. Sometimes, the car agencies may charge an extra amount for scratches and other damages to their car and make you responsible for it. At that time you can show them these photos and protect yourself from paying expenses for damages that were in the car before you took charge.
  3. Check for the Safety Features: The cars manufactured today are equipped with several safety features that play a crucial role in protecting people inside the car during crashes. Make sure that the safety features like seatbelts, windscreen wipers, indicator lights, and rear and side mirrors are placed properly and not damaged, tires aren’t worn, the car has an anti-lock braking system, airbags, etc. You need to check for all these features before taking the delivery of the car.
  4. Avoid Long Drives During Night: As you are unaware of road and traffic conditions try to visit as many places before the sun sets. This is because you never know the situation you might face the next turn. It is therefore better to avoid night driving on unfamiliar roads.
  5. Keep Emergency Numbers And Documents Available With You: Try to carry necessary documents like your valid driver’s license, copy of the car rental agreement, and emergency contact numbers readily available with you.

Conclusion: Renting a car is a facility that offers you an opportunity to enjoy your holidays in a royal way and explore the beauty of your destination at your convenience. The only thing you need to keep in concern is to be a little bit smart and protect yourself from unexpected scams.
