Renting a car during your vacation is no more a luxury and Paxos Island in Greece is no more exception. With different car rental services in Paxos, you can rent a car of your choice at a reasonable price. However, unexpected situations like a car breakdown can happen with well-maintained vehicles without any prior information. To ensure your safety and eliminate the chances of any damage it’s essential to be prepared for any situation. Below are some safety tips to follow if your rental car breaks down while driving.

  1. Prioritize Your Safety First: It is one of the highly important factors to consider if your rental car breaks while moving to some destination. Being calm in such a situation is highly required from a person. This will help you in reaching some concrete decision. Take a deep breath and park your car at a safe location, away from traffic. Avoid stopping on blind curves or near hills where visibility is limited.
  2. Turn on Hazard Lights: After you have parked your car safely, turn on hazard lights to let the commuters know about trouble in your car. Doing this has two benefits — one they will be sensitive and secondly if possible they will stop to help you as much as they can.
  3. Stay Inside the Vehicle: Try to stay inside the car, until it is not required to come out. Coming out of the car on highways or on small roads can be risky. Also, keep your seatbelts fastened, and keep yourself entertained inside the car, especially when you are with kids and waiting for help to reach you.
  4. Call the Rental Company: Once you have ensured your safety, contact the car rental agency from which you have rented the car and inform them about the incident. All car rental agencies usually provide roadside assistance or a replacement vehicle to not let the breakdown spoil your trip. Make sure you have their emergency contact details saved before starting your journey.
  5. Avoid DIY Repairs: It is seen that many people start to rectify the issues themselves without any technical knowledge. Doing this can be risky and can further damage other components. Moving ahead, many car rental agencies strictly mention in their contract to not go for DIY in case of any technical issues in the car. Let the professionals handle the issue to avoid further complications.
  6. Be Prepared For Any Situation: Before going out try to carry necessary items like water, snacks, a phone charger, and a basic first aid kit. Being prepared will make any unexpected delays more manageable.

By following these safety tips, you can remain calm and protected during an unexpected breakdown.
